3rd Welfare & Policy conference

mai 6 2027 @ 8:30 - mai 7 2027 @ 17:00

We are pleased to invite submissions to the 3rd edition of the Welfare & Policy Conference organized by the Society for research on Welfare and Policy, the research program HOPE & the Bordeaux School of Economics.

Our societies are facing unprecedented political, climatic, demographic and technological challenges. Democratic polarization, climate change, population ageing and the rapid diffusion of artificial intelligence are transforming the way people work, consume, care, vote and interact. Understanding these transformations, and designing policies that promote well-being, equity and resilience, requires rigorous evidence from economics and the social sciences.

The Welfare & Policy Conference welcomes contributions that improve our understanding of individual and collective behavior, well-being, inequality and public policy. We invite theoretical, empirical and methodological papers from economics, quantitative social psychology and political science, particularly (but not exclusively) on the following topics:

  • Labor markets, family policies and nonmarket time
  • Health, mental health, care and human development
  • Poverty, inequality and social mobility
  • Tax-benefit systems, social insurance and the welfare state
  • Behavioral responses to political, climatic and technological shocks
  • Trust, beliefs, emotions, social norms and political behavior
  • Social media, misinformation, AI and democratic resilience
  • Climate change, adaptation and environmental behavior
  • Migration, demographic change and social cohesion
  • Normative contributions to policy evaluation and welfare analysis
