Practical information

Conference Venue

Due to recent events in France and destructions on the Campus at “Place de la Victoire” (Victoire square), we have had to move the conference to a less central location, namely at the Bordeaux School of Economics (BSE), which is on the Campus of Pessac. If you have booked a hotel near Victoire Square or in the city center, things remain relatively easy since you can take tram B, direction: Pessac, stop: Montaigne-Montesquieu. This is the easiest and fastest way to reach BSE (around 20-30 minutes) given traffic. The address is:

.

Bordeaux School of Economics (BSE), Université de Bordeaux
16 avenue Léon Duguit, Bât. H
33608 Pessac

.

The campus is described on the map below. We circle the building H where BSE is located, as well as the tram stop (line B) and the car park (in case you come by Uber or taxi). Amphitheater Asselain is located on the groundfloor of building H and rooms for parallel sessions are on the 2nd floor.

To reach the conference venue

Detailed indications can be found at the end of the webpage here, but here is the essential information to reach BSE:

From the airport: by far the easiest is to take a taxi or Uber (25 €, 20-25 min)

From the train station: three main options:

taxi/Uber (20-30 €, 30-35 min depending on trafic)

– or bus “Liane 10” (direction «Gradignan – Beausoleil», and bus stop Montaigne – Montesquieu)

– or walk to Place de la Victoire (10 min) and take the tram B (direction: Pessac, stop Montaigne-Montesquieu; 20 min)

From Bordeaux downtown: the easiest is to take the tram B (direction: Pessac, stop Montaigne-Montesquieu; between 20 and 30 min)

.

To reach the center of Bordeaux

From the airport: By taxi/Uber (around 25-35€ depending on the hour, journey around 30 mn) or by bus “Liane 1”, direction “Gare Saint-Jean” (different stops in the old town / around 50mn)

.

From the train station: You can reach various parts of the old town with bus 9 or tram C. If your hotel is near Victoire Square, you can easily walk from the train station (10 min).

.

Hotels and old town

We do not recommend specific hotels but there are many nice places in the old town of Bordeaux. The map below shows the journey by tram (line B) from Place de la Victoire to the Wine museum (Cité du vin). All the area along this tram line is the old town, but the main historical center is between Place de la Bourse and Place de la Victoire. We recommend to take a hotel around there, at walkable distance to the tram B.

.

For visits, we recommend in particular the Place de la Bourse (on the quays) and the Saint Pierre district, with a stroll that can lead you to the Grand Théâtre, the Place Pey Berland (where the Cathedral is), the Place Camille Jullian (check the arty cinema located in an old church!), and of course the different wine bars on the way…

During your visit, you may also want to discover the region and the city of Bordeaux.
